Javier looked at me, his eyes wild. “Laura, we can settle this. I still love you\u2014”<\/p>\n

“Save it for your cellmate, Javier,” I interrupted. “I didn’t just bring proof of the money. I brought the text you sent her last night, the one where you told her you were only marrying her so you could access her ‘half’ of the inheritance and then disappear to Brazil alone.”<\/p>\n
