\\This fuck up happened last night. I\u2019m still dealing with the repercussions.<\/p>\n

Background. I\u2019m 33 years old, married to my college sweetheart with 1 kid. My wife stays at home with our daughter and she\u2019s 7 months pregnant with our son due in late August.<\/p>\n

Last night, about 5pm, she asked me if I\u2019d run to Sonic and get her a drink. I said sure, no biggie and headed out.<\/p>\n

I make this run at least 4 times a week because my wife has cravings for these slushies at Sonic.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s where I fucked up.<\/p>\n

So I put my order in and a few minutes later this early 20s something waitress comes out to my truck (Brand new Dodge Ram, all blacked out on 22s jacked up, dark tinted windows).<\/p>\n

She is smoking hot, in cutoff jeans and an off-the-shoulder top, and a little sweaty cause it\u2019s boiling outside.<\/p>\n

I must have some roller skate fetish as my mind kinda blacked out for a minute thinking about how hot this chick was.<\/p>\n

She rolled up to my window on skates and handed me my drink.<\/p>\n

I smiled.<\/p>\n

She smiled.<\/p>\n

Then she leaned toward my window and said, \u201cYou come here a lot, don\u2019t you?\u201d<\/p>\n

I laughed.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah. My pregnant wife basically lives on these things.\u201d<\/p>\n

She looked at the drink.<\/p>\n

\u201cPregnant wife?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSeven months.\u201d<\/p>\n

She smiled again.<\/p>\n

\u201cLucky woman.\u201d<\/p>\n

I thought nothing of it.<\/p>\n

I drove home, handed my wife her slushie, kissed her forehead, and went upstairs to change.<\/p>\n

Everything seemed normal.<\/p>\n

Until about thirty minutes later.<\/p>\n

My wife walked into the bedroom holding her phone.<\/p>\n

She looked furious.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho is she?\u201d<\/p>\n

I stared at her.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho?\u201d<\/p>\n

She turned the screen toward me.<\/p>\n

It was a picture.<\/p>\n

A picture of me sitting in my truck.<\/p>\n

Taken from outside the driver’s window.<\/p>\n

My stomach dropped.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere did you get that?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe sent it to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWho?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe girl from Sonic.\u201d<\/p>\n

I immediately grabbed the phone.<\/p>\n

There was a message underneath the picture.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour husband comes here a lot. Thought you should know.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

My wife looked at me.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou told her about me?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThen why did she send me this?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

She scrolled down.<\/p>\n

There were more pictures.<\/p>\n

Me at the drive-through.<\/p>\n

Me walking into Sonic.<\/p>\n

Me talking to the girl.<\/p>\n

And one picture of my truck parked outside.<\/p>\n

My wife started crying.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew something was wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

I kept telling her nothing happened.<\/p>\n

And honestly, nothing had.<\/p>\n

I hadn’t cheated.<\/p>\n

I hadn’t touched this woman.<\/p>\n

I hadn’t even gotten her name.<\/p>\n

But then my wife showed me one final message.<\/p>\n

\u201cAsk him why he comes through my line every time I’m working.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I felt my face go cold.<\/p>\n

Because I suddenly remembered something.<\/p>\n

She wasn’t new.<\/p>\n

I’d seen her before.<\/p>\n

Many times.<\/p>\n

And every single time, she’d been wearing those skates.<\/p>\n

My wife stared at me.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo?\u201d<\/p>\n

I shook my head.<\/p>\n

\u201cI swear to you, I never gave her my number.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then my phone buzzed.<\/p>\n

Unknown number.<\/p>\n

One message.<\/p>\n

\u201cSorry about that. I didn’t realize you were married.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I looked at my wife.<\/p>\n

She looked at me.<\/p>\n

Then another message arrived.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour wife shouldn’t be mad at you. You didn’t do anything.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I breathed again.<\/p>\n

Until the third message appeared.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut you should probably ask your wife why she knows me.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I looked at my wife.<\/p>\n

Her face went completely white.<\/p>\n

She whispered:<\/p>\n

\u201cDon’t answer that.\u201d<\/p>\n

And that’s when I realized…<\/p>\n

my wife wasn’t surprised because a stranger had been flirting with me.<\/p>\n

She was terrified because she knew exactly who that woman was.<\/p>\n

I asked her again.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho is she?\u201d<\/p>\n

My wife started crying.<\/p>\n

Then she finally told me the truth.<\/p>\n

The woman at Sonic wasn’t a stranger.<\/p>\n

She was someone from my wife’s past.<\/p>\n

Someone she had spent years trying to forget.<\/p>\n

And apparently…<\/p>\n

she hadn’t forgotten my wife either.<\/p>\n
